Grand Traverse Area Manufacturing Council
The Grand Traverse Area Manufacturing Council was established to promote long-term thinking, education, and collaboration through people and companies that allow us to make great things in northern Michigan. It’s our mission to support a sustainable and globally competitive manufacturing sector for a stronger economy.
Don’t miss out on these great opportunities to network, learn, and share with other area businesses and manufacturers.
A very special thank you to all our Platinum sponsors: Chemical Bank, Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center (MMTC), and Skilled Manufacturing Inc. for helping to make this amazing event possible.
On the last Friday of September, manufacturers across northern Michigan gather to support the Manufacturing Technology Academy (MTA) of Traverse City in our annual Manufacturers Charity Golf Outing.
First Friday of October is national Manufacturing Day! The GTAMC is excited for another successful year as we look to bring 850 students into 40 different manufacturing facilities. Thank you for your support!

WHY CHOOSE KATA?
Our Invisible Secret Sauce…
We use an invisible tool to make great things.
We founded KATA Engineering based on our beliefs that goals are accomplished through an invisible choreographed process of problem solving.
This invisible purpose makes us different. Period.
Our purpose is to survive by continuous improvement and ask for challenges, not to just make production and work around problems.
We don’t hit goals by accident. We don’t act before we have a target condition. We first understand the current state deeply, then we create a series of small target condition steps to ultimately achieve goals.
All of this is done through coaching and harnessing the invisible problem solving power of people.
LET’S MAKE IT WORK!
Learn. Network. Grow.
Community Events: Not only does the GTAMC meet regularly to discuss and collaborate on a variety of topics related to manufacturing and business development — but we also partner, sponsor, and promote an assortment of events throughout the area. These meetings and events are a great way to:
- create new relationships
- network with peers
- learn all about the amazing innovation that is taking place throughout northern Michigan
